"Return of the ROC'n Concrete Rumble" Rescheduled For Sun., Aug. 22, With 4 PM Start
Officials of Shangri-La II Motor Speedway and the Race of Champions Modified Tour have announced the "Return of the ROC'n Concrete Rumble" originally set for Sunday, August 1 has been rescheduled for Sunday, August 22. The first heat will start at 4:00 p.m.
In addition to the 100 lap main event, part of the RoC Championship Series, racing will also be staged for Shangri-La II's ASA Late Model, Sportsman Modified, and Street Stock divisions as well as the INEX Legends. As always on the Race of Champions Tour, there will be no time trials, with all qualifying for the 100-lap feature through heats and consolation races.
Public Autograph Session, Twin Match Races Highlight "Night of NASCAR Stars" Saturday, Aug. 7th; Full Race Program also on Tap
Fans will get a chance to take home autographs from four of stock car racing's biggest stars- Rusty Wallace, Kenny Wallace, Matt Kenseth, and Sunday's Pocono Sprint Cup race winner Greg Biffle- on Saturday night, August 7 at Shangri-La II Motor Speedway. Then they will watch Biffle, Kenseth, and K. Wallace perform behind the wheel of ASA Late Model cars in a pair of match races while Rusty handles the microphone.
All of this comes in addition to the regular four-class ASA Member Track racing program for Modifieds, Late Models, Sportsman Modifieds, and Street Stocks which hits the track for heat race action at 6:00 p.m.
Greg Biffle Added To "Night Of NASCAR Stars" At Shangri-La II On Saturday, August 7 With Rusty Wallace, Kenny Wallace, Matt Kenseth
Four drivers representing two Cup Series championships, one title each in the Nationwide Series and Truck Series, 157 wins in NASCAR's three national series, plus a full racing progrm for the local stars make up the formula for Shangri-La II Motor Speedway's inaugural "Night of NASCAR Stars" on Saturday, August 7. Rusty Wallace, Kenny Wallace, Matt Kenseth, and Greg Biffle have made firm commitments to participate in the star-studded evening.
Biffle replaces Michael Waltip, who was unable to attend due to a rescheduled sponsor appearance. Kenny Wallace, Kenseth, and Biffle will all compete in a match race with top cars from Shangri-La II's ASA Late Model division, while Rusty Wallace provides the expert commentary.
Biffle, the newest addition to the quartet of stars, was the 2000 Craftman Truck Series champion and the 2002 Busch (now Nationwide) title winner. His best finishes in the final Sprint Cup standings were second in 2005 and third in 2008, always driving for Roush Racing. He's made the Chase four of the last six seasons. His 14 Sprint Cup wins, 20 in the Busch/Nationwide Series, and 16 in the trucks give him a total of 50 NASCAR national series victories.
