PERSISTENT SHOWERS FORCE SHANGRI-LA II TO POSTPONE SEASON CHAMPIONSHIP NIGHT ONE WEEKTioga Center, NY For the first time in the 2014 racing season, Shangri-La II lost a night to Mother Nature. "These little pesky showers keep popping up" said track and event director Jerry Sinsabaugh. "We just beat out the showers last week, but we weren't so lucky tonight. We will move Championship night back one week, and hope the good weather comes our way once again". August 30th was the scheduled rain date for Season Championship night when the schedule was revised seven weeks ago. The championship for the Four Cylinder Stocks has been clinched by Gene Purvis. The Lowman, NY driver is undefeated in competition around the concrete highbanks this season, but there is a Bounty still out on him. The Bounty is now worth $200.00 to the 4 Cylinder stock driver who can defeat Purvis, but Purvis must be running and on the lead lap for someone to claim the bounty. If Purvis wins, then the bonus money is his.
Points Double Checked Going Into Championship Night
The points standings were double checked and the title battles have changed from what was originally reported. In the Sportsman division, T.J. Zacharias holds a 15 point advantage over Paul Johnson. The title for the Street Stock champion has Jason Duke, Sr. holding a 7 point lead over Bill Frisbee, Jr.
Should be a great night at "The Concrete Castle" on Saturday night.
