Shangri-La II Cancels Fall Brawl; $1,000+ Jackpot Carries Over to 2011
Officials of Shangri-La II Motor Speedway have announced with regret the cancellation of the 2010 Fall Brawl. Originally scheduled for the weekend of October 2-3, the event was postponed by weather conditions and condensed to a one-day format for October 16, only to again fall victim to the elements.
"We had to consider all the factors," said track manager Amy Stilson. "We want to establish the Fall Brawl as a traditional event, but with the setbacks we've had already this year, the arrival of cold weather, and the commitment of many of the top modified teams to the North-South Shootout in three weeks, we didn't see much chance for success. So we decided to cancel the event and concentrate on preparation for the 2011 season."
The 50-50 jackpot of $1,003 which was unclaimed at the May 16 Race of Champions Series event and held over to the second RoC date which was also rained out twice, will be held safely over the winter and form the starting point of the 50-50 for the first Race of Champions date in 2011.
