Officials from Shangri-La II Motorspeedway and The Race of Champions Pavement Modified Series were forced to postpone The RoC-N-Concrete Rumble Returns event from Sunday July 28th to next Sunday August 4th due to inclement weather. With this change to the 2013 schedule, track management has made the decision to cancel the regularly scheduled event on Saturday August 3rd.

Racing is scheduled to take the green flag at 5:30 pm which is a little later than the postponed show was scheduled to start. “We’re going into August, and the afternoon sun in the grandstands can be uncomfortable” says track owner, George Swansbrough. “Hopefully with a little later start the grandstands and pits will be on a cooling trend. We should be able to have an enjoyable program and get everyone headed home at a decent hour”. The Pit Gates will open at 1:30 pm. Grandstand Gates open and Hot Laps will begin at 3:30 pm. Racing starts at 5:30 pm. The Shangri-La II Wristband discount will not be available for this event. Show your wristbands from previous Shangri-La II races at Pudgies Pizza in Binghamton and Waverly to receive a discount on your food purchase. There is always plenty of free camping at Shangri-La II.

(Tioga Center, NY) For the second time in the 2013 racing season, foul weather has forced the cancellation of the racing program at the ASA Member Shangri-La II Motorspeedway. “We have really had a lot of severe storms park themselves right over the speedway the past few days” said track event coordinator, Amy Culver.   “Sitting up as high as we do, right on top of the mountain, the rain intensity and wind is just incredible. We had ponds and mini lakes in our infield and our parking areas. We really had no choice but to cancel this week”.

The racing action has heated up on the track, just as much as the temperatures of summer. The Pudgies Pizza Street Stocks continue to have fast cars, close competition and a revolving door on who will be leading the points. Defending track champion, Jeff Goodwin reclaimed the top spot from Chris Zacharias on June 15th , but by only eight points. Both drivers have two wins apiece. Early season points leader, Charlie Sharpsteen remains strong in the third position, twenty eight points out of the lead. Jake Snell and Jason Duke, Sr. complete the top five in points respectively, the highest they have either been in points at Shangri-La II.
